Paradiso tops UK classical chart, no. 13 in pop chart!

4 Sep 2011

Paradiso (by Hayley Westenra and Ennio Morricone) has entered the UK Classical Artist Chart at number 1 today after its first week on sale. It has also entered the main Album Chart at no. 13.

Congratulations Hayley, no radio airplay - but still managing to mix it with the pop singers and their saturation radio coverage.

UPDATE

Paradiso sales in the UK last week were 12,217 copies (Music Week).

If Paradiso had sold 2,000 more copies last week, it would have been no. 8. If it had sold the same number (12,217) the week before that, it would have been no. 8. Pure first entered the chart at no. 8, way back in 2003, after massive TV advertising throughout the week but there was very little TV advertising for Paradiso towards the end of the week, and an expected Sky News interview didn't happen - that could have made a difference.
