As a strong supporter of The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, Hayley was almost certainly referring to the following event (article from the Number 10 Downing Street website):
PM hosts party to mark Royal British Legion’s 90th
The Prime Minister has hosted a party for the Armed Forces to celebrate The Royal British Legion’s 90th anniversary. The party was also in support of the charity’s Battle Back Centre for the recovery of Service personnel.
The Prime Minister said:
David Cameron invited 160 guests to the ‘Downing Street Poppy Party’, including injured Service personnel, bereaved Armed Forces families and veterans of Afghanistan and previous conflicts. The Poppy Party is part of the Legion’s Great Poppy Party Weekend. People across the nation are holding Great Poppy Parties to celebrate the Legion’s 90th anniversary and help raise funds for The Royal British Legion Battle Back Centre, a national centre of excellence to rehabilitate injured Service personnel through adventurous training and adaptive sports. The Legion aims to raise £90 million in its 90th anniversary year, in particular to help fund our £50 million commitment to create, equip and operate the Battle Back Centre and fund the operating costs of the Personnel Recovery Centres for ten years.
